The ‘Song of Waimate’ is dedicated to W. Geddes Esq.,who after travelling the world proclaimed Waimate as “The Best Little Town that I Know”. The music was written by Harold Scotney and the words by George Dash. The song was written prior to the 1929 Jubilee of the Borough and was sung at the Radio Concert Broadcast from the Olympia Hall, Waimate on Friday 18th October, 1929.
